The 2025 International Day of Peace invites us to act now and reminds us that everyone has a role to play in peacebuilding.

Peace is a foundational principle of the United Nations.

Today, this commitment feels more important than ever and calls on us to redouble our efforts.

The Secretary-General has reminded us that peace is the most powerful force to change our world. Colombia knows this truth deeply: it has endured the shadows of conflict yet has also shown that peace can be built in many ways.

On this day, we celebrate the dedication of Colombian civil society, institutions, victims of the armed conflict, signatories of the peace agreement, and all those who, across every sector and despite the challenges, continue to believe in reconciliation.

Peace is never an easy journey, nor is it free of hurdles, but it is the only one worth walking. May this International Day of Peace be a source of hope and encouragement for us all to continue along that path.
