Key dates of the UN Verification Mission in Colombia 

24 November / 2016 

The request of the national Government and the FARC-EP to the UN for the formation of a second political mission, with responsibilities different from the first, is based on the Peace Agreement signed by the parties on November 24, 2016.

3 - 5 May / 2017 

The support for the new Verification Mission was confirmed during the visit to Colombia by the United Nations Security Council on May 4 and 5, 2017 and also at the Council meeting of June 28, 2017 at the presentation of the third report of the current Mission.

29 May / 2017 

Communiqué No. 19 of the Commission for the Follow-up, Promotion and Verification of the Implementation of the Final Agreement (CSIVI acronyms in Spanish).

7 June / 2017 

Letter requesting this Mission from President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos to the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres. 

10 July / 2017 

By its resolution 2366 (2017), the Security Council established the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (the Verification Mission), demanded an immediately starting of preparations and provisional work and requested, within 45 days, a report with recommendations on the size and operational aspects of the Verification Mission. 

14 September / 2017  

The Security Council adopted Resolution 2377 in which it welcomed the recommendations submitted to the Security Council on 30 August.
