Mr. President, Distinguished Members of the Council,
Seventy-nine years ago, the international community pledged to maintain international peace and security, foster friendly relations and solidarity among nations, and promote respect for human rights. Today, these commitments remain more relevant than ever.
This year's commemoration of the International Day of Peace is dedicated to Cultivating a Culture of Peace. Today, I congratulate the Colombian people for being a global example for these efforts.
