Commemorative ceremony in memory of missing persons in El Copey

The UN Verification Mission in Colombia took part in a ceremony in memory of missing persons in the context of the armed conflict on 2 March in El Copey, in the Department of Cesar, northeastern Colombia. The event was organized by families in coordination with the Unit for the Search of Persons Deemed as Missing, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (SJP), civil society, and local authorities.
 

The event took place during the Unit's presentation of a progress report of the Fourth Forensic, Humanitarian and Extrajudicial Investigation of the San Roque Cemetery. The Unit has recovered 51 bodies of persons who disappeared during the conflict.
