11 May 2021 - Mandate Expanded to Include Monitoring Compliance with Sentences Issued by Special Judicial Body for Crimes Committed during 50-year Conflict The Security Council today extended the mandate of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia until 31 October and expanded it to include monitoring implementation of the sentences handed down by a special judicial body established under the 2016 peace agreement between the Government and a rebel group.

06 Apr 2021 - Bogota, 6 April 2021. - In the latest report on the UN Verification Mission in Colombia, which covers the period from 28 December 2020 to 26 March 2021, the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, highlights the importance of consolidating the progress of the Peace Agreement during this fifth year of implementation.

26 Mar 2021 - Bogotá, 26 March 2021. The United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia condemns the car bomb attack outside the Mayor's offices in Corinto, Cauca, which left dozens of people injured, including municipal officials and community members. The Mission rejects this and all of the recent violence which has taken place in Cauca department and other regions of the country.

Today, at the headquarters of the UN Verification Mission in Colombia, the Special Representative and Head of the Mission, Carlos Ruiz Massieu, along with national and international officials, paid tribute to the memory and work of Mario Paciolla, a Mission volunteer who died last 15 July in San Vicente del Caguán, Caquetá.
