Peace through the camera lens

The communications programme “Semillas de Paz” visited the rural area of Tumaco, Nariño, to teach a group of young people and adults of the former ETCR La Variante and the neighboring communities how to contribute to peace, reconciliation, and memory a photo at a time.

Over seven days, from 24 June to 1 July, more than 35 boys, girls, adolescents, young people, and peace signatories participated in practical and theoretical workshops on photography, film, audiovisual production, gender-sensitive approach, and the Peace Agreement. Together with the fantastic workshop leaders of Colectivo Miradas, these training sessions also served as opportunities for community meetings, dialogue, and the creation of networks among locals who are committed to peace.

Semillas de Paz, a territory-based initiative, is set to be implemented in five other municipalities nationwide. This ambitious project is made possible through the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Colombia, the European Peace Facility, Corporación Reencuentros, the Government of Colombia through the Ministry of Culture, Fundación Compaz, Corporación La Rotativa, and the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia. Their collective support underscores the collaborative nature of the project and the shared commitment to peace.
