Hacarí: the community and peace signatories standing against stigmatisation

In Hacarí, Norte de Santander, Geraldine Ojeda has found in community leadership a way to build peace. A community leader committed to the development of her territory, she now works alongside former combatants through Hacaripaz, an organic bio-inputs cooperative that brings people together, creates opportunities, and strengthens the local economy. Her story shows how, when communities work hand in hand, the implementation of the Peace Agreement can deliver tangible benefits for people and territories.

For Geraldine, peace is not only for those who signed the Peace Agreement—it is a shared national project that belongs to everyone. Her experience is also a call to leave stigma behind and recognise that trust, dialogue, and collective action are essential to creating new opportunities and advancing a more inclusive and sustainable peace in Colombia.
