This week, following the earthquake that struck Colombia, with Chocó among the hardest-hit departments, the UNVMC supported the deployment of the Chocó Departmental Government and the United Nations Country Humanitarian Team to San José del Palmar, the epicentre of the emergency.

The visit enabled first-hand engagement with local authorities and affected communities, contributing to a timely and coordinated humanitarian response. The Mission reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting joint efforts with national and local authorities and the United Nations system to address the needs of the affected communities.
