Closure of UNMC

The United Nations Mission in Colombia was established on 26 January 2016 to provide support to the peace process. Its mandate ended on 26 September 2017, and its responsibilities were transferred to the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia.

CONDUCT OF STAFF IN UNITED NATIONS MISSIONS

The United Nations requires all UN personnel to maintain the highest standards of integrity and conduct, both in public and private. The UN is committed to ensuring that all its personnel, whether civilian, military, or police deployed worldwide, serve with professionalism, honesty, and respect for diversity, and are accountable for their conduct.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF THE BEHAVIOR OF PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR THE UNITED NATIONS MISSION IN COLOMBIA?

1. ZERO tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse:

  • Do not offer work, money, or goods in exchange for sex.
  • Do not engage in prostitution.
  • Do not have sexual relations with persons under 18 years of age.

2. Do not abuse alcohol.

3. Do not use any type of drug.

4. Do not participate in illegal activities.

5. Act impartially and respectfully toward those involved in the peace process.

6. Respect local culture and beliefs.

7. Respect Colombian laws.
